Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Kigali City Tour – Transfer to Ruhengeri
Upon arrival in Kigali, our Safari Vibes Africa guide welcomes you and begins a Kigali city tour. Visit key landmarks such as historical sites, local markets, and cultural centers to understand Rwanda’s journey and vibrant present.
After lunch, drive north to the Ruhengeri (Musanze) area. Enjoy beautiful views of rolling hills and volcanoes along the way.
Overnight: Lodge in Ruhengeri area
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Today is the highlight of your safari. After an early breakfast, head to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a briefing by park rangers. You’ll then trek through the forest to find a habituated gorilla family.
Once you meet the gorillas, you’ll spend one magical hour observing them as they feed, play, and interact — a truly unforgettable moment.
Return to your lodge to relax and reflect on the experience.
Overnight: Lodge in Ruhengeri area
Day 3: Ruhengeri – Return to Kigali – Departure
After breakfast, drive back to Kigali. Depending on your flight time, enjoy some free time or a short stop for souvenirs before transfer to the airport.

How difficult is gorilla trekking?
Gorilla trekking can be moderately challenging. The terrain is hilly and sometimes muddy, but you move at a slow pace with regular stops. You don’t need to be extremely fit—just reasonably active and prepared to walk.
How close do we get to the gorillas?
You’ll usually be about 7 meters away, sometimes closer if the gorillas move toward you. Rangers ensure the experience is safe for both visitors and gorillas.
How many people trek one gorilla family?
Each gorilla family is visited by a maximum of 8 people per day, making the experience exclusive and respectful.
What should I wear for the trek?
Wear long-sleeved shirts, long trousers, hiking boots, and carry gloves and a rain jacket. Neutral colors are best. A small backpack and walking stick (provided at the park) are very helpful.
