FAQ
When is the best time to see the Mara River crossings?
The prime period is from July to October. During these months, the herds move northward and attempt crossings at the Mara River. Exact timing can vary each year depending on rainfall, but our experienced guides constantly monitor the herds and adjust locations for the best chance to witness crossings.
Is this safari suitable for families and different experience levels?
Yes. We have successfully hosted families with children, solo travelers, photography enthusiasts, and groups. Game drives are flexible — we can shorten or adjust activities based on energy levels and interests. Our guides are trained to explain wildlife behavior in simple, engaging ways for all ages.
Are there any physical requirements for this safari?
No high fitness level is needed. Most time is spent in the vehicle on game drives. Short walks at lodges are optional and gentle. We recommend discussing any mobility or health concerns during booking so we can make suitable arrangements.
What photography opportunities can I expect?
This safari offers outstanding chances for action, landscape, and wildlife photography, especially during river crossings. Guides position vehicles thoughtfully and allow time for shooting. Bring a good zoom lens (200mm+) and extra memory cards.
Can the itinerary be customized?
Absolutely. At Safari Vibes Africa we specialize in tailor-made safaris. We can adjust the number of days, add beach extensions in Zanzibar, or modify activities to match your preferences and budget.
What should I pack?
Packing well makes a big difference in your comfort during the safari.
We recommend:
- Neutral-colored clothing (khaki, beige, green) to blend with the environment
- Light layers for daytime and a warm jacket for early mornings and evenings
- Comfortable shoes
- Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a wide-brim hat
- Camera with extra batteries and memory cards
- Binoculars for better wildlife viewing
Avoid bright colors and dark blue/black, as they can attract insects or disturb wildlife.
