Itinerary

Hotel Pick-up
Your day begins with a relaxed pick-up from your hotel anywhere in Zanzibar. As you drive toward Jozani, your guide shares stories about village life, farming, and how the forest fits into local culture.

Arrival at Jozani Forest Entrance
After checking in, you meet a professional forest guide. Before entering, you’ll get a short briefing about the park, its rules, and why conservation is important to the local community.

Guided Forest Walk (Main Trail)
You start walking under tall trees and thick greenery. The path is flat and easy.
Along the way, your guide helps you spot:

  • Red colobus monkeys jumping between trees

  • Sykes’ monkeys resting in the shade

  • Birds, butterflies, and small forest creatures

You’ll stop often to learn about:

  • Trees used for traditional medicine

  • Plants once used for food, rope, and shelter

  • How the forest protects Zanzibar’s water sources

Red Colobus Observation Time
You’ll spend time quietly watching the monkeys interact—feeding, grooming, and playing. There is no feeding or touching; this is real wildlife behavior, observed respectfully.

Mangrove Boardwalk Experience
Next, you move to the mangrove area. A raised wooden boardwalk takes you deep into the mangroves, where your guide explains:

  • How mangroves protect the coast from erosion

  • Their role in fish breeding and marine life

  • Why mangrove conservation is vital for Zanzibar

This area feels cooler and peaceful, with birds and soft water sounds.
