Itinerary
Day 1: Umbwe Gate → Umbwe Camp
After registration at Umbwe Gate, the trek begins immediately with a steep climb through thick rainforest. The trail is narrow, quiet, and intense. You’ll feel the adventure right away as you reach Umbwe Camp deep in the forest.
Hiking time: 4–6 hours
Overnight: Umbwe Camp
Day 2: Umbwe Camp → Barranco Camp
Today is tough but rewarding. You climb steep ridges with dramatic views, leaving the forest behind. By afternoon, the trail merges with the Machame Route, and you descend slightly to Barranco Camp beneath massive cliffs and glaciers.
Hiking time: 6–8 hours
Overnight: Barranco Camp
Day 3: Barranco Camp → Karanga Camp
Start the day climbing the famous Barranco Wall—fun, steep, and full of big views. After the wall, the trail becomes easier as you cross valleys and ridges toward Karanga Camp. This day helps your body adjust before summit night.

Day 4: Karanga Camp → Barafu Camp

Day 6: Mweka Camp → Mweka Gate
